Lucky star is an anime AND manga series that has some real life situations, with a Japanese otaku twist. The main characters, Kagami, Tsukasa, (twin sisters)Miyuki and Konata (MAJOR OTAKUHOLIC!!!) are normal 17 year olds facing studies, exams and lots of other challenges.
